Bryan Palfreyman is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Mahone Bay Centre Society and Chair of the Rental Committee and member of the Property Committee. He and his wife Anne moved from Oakville to Mahone Bay in 2004 and he joined the Board in 2008. Bryan is also Vice-Chair of the Mahone Islands Conservation Association.
Born and raised in England, Bryan attended Law School in London and then joined Barclays DCO (now International) in the Executor and Trustee dept. Subsequently he accepted a position with the Bank of Montreal and emigrated to Canada in 1966 working in Kingston, Ottawa and then head office, first in Montreal and then Toronto. He became a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and following completion of various investment exams became Senior Trader in the bank’s head office trading room. Then followed a diverse career as a senior manager in international risk management followed by helping establish the bank’s compliance dept. The final decade was spent as Director of Legislation and Regulation where he was the bank’s representative on the Canadian Bankers Association Financial Sector Policy Committee, providing regular briefings to the President, C.E.O. and C.F.O. to help prepare them for meetings with their contemporaries at other banks and with the Governor of the Bank of Canada
