Michael Saker is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mahone Bay Centre Society. He and his wife Gail moved from Ottawa to Mahone Bay in December 2009. In 2011 Mike joined the Board as project manager of the $52,000 and 2,000 volunteer hours renovation of the 1960s gymnasium. In 2013 Mike became treasurer and in November 2014 he took over as chairman with the well-deserved retirement of our long-standing chairman, Paul Seltzer.
Born and raised in Toronto, following high school Mike joined the Canadian Navy obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, thereafter embarking on a full career in the Canadian Forces. He retired in 1995 as the Canadian Forces senior engineer, in the rank of Rear Admiral, responsible for all Navy, Air Force and Army major capital procurement projects. Mike went on to work a further 14 years in private industry before moving to Mahone Bay.
